Fort Worth Housing Solutions Communities Explained
Fort Worth Housing Solutions portfolio, mixed-income and voucher developments, the application path, and how we help.
Who FWHS Is
Fort Worth Housing Solutions (FWHS) is the local Public Housing Authority. They run:
- Public housing across Tarrant County
- Housing Choice Voucher program
- Mixed-finance developments with LIHTC or other funding
- Various supportive and homeownership programs
Community Types in the Portfolio
Public housing: rent set as ~30% of adjusted gross income. Government-owned or PHA-owned.
Mixed-income developments: newer communities with subsidized, LIHTC-restricted, and market-rate units in the same building.
RAD-converted communities: former public housing under project-based Section 8 or LIHTC financing.
How to Apply
Direct application through FWHS. Waitlists open with announced windows. Preferences (veteran, disability, elderly, homelessness, local resident) can move you up.
We recommend parallel LIHTC applications to non-FWHS properties for faster placement.
